How does the Directory group work?



What the directory is for:

The directory is meant to be a way to promote small, home-based businesses that sell products. Every business in the directory is a verified home-based business, whether it’s handmade, vintage, supplies, or POD. The bonus Facebook group that goes with it is for directory members to post their product links to promote their businesses, and I also use their posts to find items for gift guides on the directory website. There's also a YouTube channel for the website that's aimed at people who shop online, and members are featured on it occasionally.


Which businesses are eligible to be in the directory:

I use the Creativity Standards set by Etsy as a rough guideline for whose advertising to accept, and I reserve the right to refuse placement in the directory based on those standards and my own discretion. This is a family-friendly, apolitical website.


Bonus Facebook group:

As a bonus, your business page can post in the directory's facebook group, have your products be considered for gift guides, and get more exposure on Facebook and Pinterest as a result. This is a membership bonus, and if you violate the rules of the Facebook group you will lose posting privileges without necessarily being removed from the directory. Your membership is for the directory, not the Facebook group.


Potential benefits of membership:

  • One low-cost fee for a placement in the directory.
  • Being included on the website with links to your website or Etsy shop. This counts as a backlink to your website, which can help with search engine ranking.
  • Items from the directory shop listings and the Facebook group could be used in gift guides on the Artisan Shopping Directory website.
  • Posts in the bonus Facebook group are reposted to the business page, and may be shared on the YouTube channel community forum. This also counts as a backlink to your website or shop for search engines.
  • The YouTube channel has videos that occasionally feature shops that are directory members.


PLEASE NOTE: This membership replaces the directory listing ad that I previously offered, it's a separate membership. If you bought a listing in the ad on our website it will stay there, but to post in the bonus Facebook group this is the membership that you have to have.
